Trip Focus: Roma Gypsy Outreach, Orphanage Ministry, Local Church Ministry
High poverty, divorce, abortion, unemployment, organized crime, and discrimination against minorities all plague the population of Bulgaria. Most of the population considers themselves to be part of the Orthodox Church, but few people practice their religion. In addition, many people in the church incorporate paganism into Christianity.
On this trip team members will be reaching out to the Roma Gypsy population alongside a local church. Bulgaria has one of the largest populations of Roma Gypsies in Europe due to the fact that much of the population fled to Bulgaria during World War II to escape Hitler’s attempt to eradicate the Roma Gypsy population. Today, this people group suffers from intense poverty, human trafficking, and harsh discrimination. Despite these grievances, the Roma Gypsy people are typically kind and open to the Gospel.
Team members may also have the opportunity to work in an orphanage and serve a local church.
If you have a heart to serve people deemed by society as outcasts, this trip may be for you! We welcome you to pray and ask the Lord if He wants you to be a part of this life-changing experience.
