Trip Focus: Inner City Ministry
The diversity of cultures in New York is one way to bring the Gospel to unreached people groups throughout the world. Almost every country in the world has a community or neighborhood in New York. In addition to these communities, there are over 100,000 people who are homeless in this city. The New York City Urban Missions Project partners teams with inner city ministries to bring the hope and life that Jesus gives to the many suffering people here.
Team members will be the hands and feet of Jesus as we work in rescue missions, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, and relief centers as well as participate in outreaches with the local churches in these communities. Please prayerfully consider becoming a part of this team for a life-changing experience!
*Payment deadlines must be met in order to participate in this trip. Church of the Highlands uses each payment to purchase necessary trip expenses shortly following the posted deadlines. Therefore, payments are non-refundable, and failure to meet these deadlines will result in the removal of a team member and/or the cancellation of the trip.
Where will we stay: Teams will stay at the New York School of Urban Ministry (NYSUM). The accommodations are dorm style with a cafeteria, student lounges, and meeting rooms.
What will we eat? Most meals will be provided by NYSUM, but the team will also get to experience local food favorites such as New York pizza, delis, and cheesecake.
What should I bring? Please bring everything that you will need for showering and daily hygiene. You will need a pair of shower shoes, closed toe shoes, and modest clothing.
