Disaster Relief Our response and how you can help

In times like these, we come alongside local churches and pastors through our relationship with ARC and Grow. We believe the best way we can help is to equip, resource, and empower the churches that are already in the affected areas because they know the people, places, and areas of greatest need better than we could alone. The churches we partner with also have incredible volunteers who are committed and able to serve their community in both the short-term and long-term. These churches have built relationships that allow them to offer not only practical help, but the emotional and spiritual care that is desperately needed in the midst of disaster. People will turn and look to God in times like these. Through the local church, they will experience His hands pulling them to safety, His feet pushing through the flood waters to provide relief, and His love creating hope when it is needed most. We believe God is present in this recovery, right there in the trenches—helping, healing, and working through His people to provide light in a time of darkness.

Many of you have asked how you can help. We are so thankful for your commitment to loving people in need.

Here are ways you can be a part of the recovery:

Give

You are already helping in a major way through your giving. We will continue to send resources from the Highlands missions budget on your behalf. If you would like to give more, you can designate an offering through Church of the Highlands’ online giving portal (just click on the Disaster Relief tab) or give through the Association of Related Churches. You may also text the amount of your gift plus the keywords Highlands HR to 45777 (for example, $10 Highlands HR ).

Donate

We are directing all non-monetary donations to our ministry partner, Christian Service Mission (CSM). CSM is working with various churches and ministries to distribute donations to areas they are needed most. Please contact them directly for specific items needed or visit their Facebook page.

Serve

In the days directly following a disaster, the best thing we can do is let the relief professionals do what they do best. As soon as it would be most helpful, we will be sending out some skilled relief teams. If you are a skilled, trained professional that would like to serve on a relief team please complete the online Missions Application.

We will give you an update Sunday in our services at Church of the Highlands. Thank you for your love, support, prayers, and generosity.
