Web Developer

Church of the Highlands is looking for a ministry-minded, Christ-centered web developer who wants to focus their efforts on producing creative solutions for complex challenges that further the Kingdom. We are looking specifically for a backend web developer who loves to build technology using Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, and emerging front-end technologies.

Church of the Highlands is one of the largest, most influential churches in the country. You are:

• Someone who embraces every challenge and finds fun in discovering solutions
• A list-oriented person, who strives to be as productive as possible
• The type of person who thrives in a team environment
• Someone who knows a lot about every level of the web development process, but the middle of it all is your home sweet home
• At your best neck deep in a text editor (of your choice which should be vim) at Inception-level-4 nested code
• Someone who enjoys looking at existing work and looking for ways to fine tune every process
• A learner, who knows the name of all the luminaries in the web world and is constantly seeking new voices to learn from

You know well:

• Ruby / Rails || Python / Django
• PHP / MySQL
• JavaScript / jQuery / Node.js
• Git / Github
• APIs and web services

You want to explore:

• SASS / Coffeescript
• Cloud Hosting (Rackspace / Amazon)
• Agile development (Scrum)
• Linux and the command line

Would be awesome if you:

• Are active on Twitter and Github
• Love an open office environment
• Enjoy being wired in with a great pair of headphones
• Like to stay on the cutting edge but have a keen discernment of what's useful
• Can quote the best lines from WarGames ("It's a simulation!")
